MondayToday was the start of my underwater journey It was our first confined water dive at a dive shop in Bonita that let house of scuba use their pool. For the first day we were tested on our ability to swim and tread water. Also we put our heads underwater with the regulator in our mouths. TuesdaySecond and last confined water dive. Today we learned how to manage, clean, and set up my gear. We also started learning how to descend to the deeper parts of the pool. Once we were laying flat on the bottom our instructor was having us learn the basic skills we need to learn for example taking off our mask underwater and flooding it. WensdayOur dive was canceled last minute due to conditions. Thursday and FridayMy first and last two open water dives. We arrived at La jolla shore on both days and I immediately set up my gear. Once we had all our gear on we started walking from the park into the surf so we had our fins and walked sideways into the water once we past the waves we put our fins on we swam fifteen minuets out and waited at the buoy. Once we all made a five point decent we redid all the skills we did in the pool but at the bottom of the ocean floor. For our last dive we all grouped up and swam fifty feet down and go to the edge of the scrips canyon wall we saw tuna crab everywhere it was like a carpet of crab. A sea lion tried to bite me and I saw a shovel nose shark it was the best feeling be immersed with so much life ive never seen before. I can now dive anywhere in the world.

Monday - TuesdayWent to work for eight hours both days. Wednesday-FridayWent to go help out Pike at my internship at SDSU marine coastal institution. I just checked on the YSI meter every 10 mins and swapped light filters and every hour I would swap out the algae and weigh the sample and record the data.
Monday-WensdayFor three days I went to school and worked in Lora's and made are with Andreyes I had a focus on making sea lion are and then I started drawing sharks that I was going to put into these small Japanese style books that lora showed us how to make. When it was free work time I worked on seal mix ups on Photoshop. Thursday-FridayI went to work both days from nine to five at the Coronado Marriott.
Monday-TuesdayI went to work for eight hours both days WednesdayToday was another fitness day I started the day by running for an hour minuets then I got back home and l lifted for thirty. Once I was done I made my way to school and it took about two hours then I went to volleyball scrimmage for three hours at the hth gym. ThursdayI went back to school today becasue my internship called off for the two days I was supposed to go so I wanted to go do some art with Lora. When I got there I wanted to paint some seals but the week before when I went swimming with leopard sharks I got more intrigued so I decided I wanted to make a small book of creatures in La Jolla so I started sketching and thinking about how I am going to do it. The first day I drew a page about leopard sharks. FridayI continued what I was doing yesterday so I researched what other type of sharks linger off the coast of la jolla and decided what interested me the most so I started to draw a Blue shark and finished the second page and next week Im going to draw two types of pinnipeds and two types of each type of mammal, crustacean, or fish.
Monday- WednesdaySadly I got sick on Monday and I was not able to go to SDSU Marine Lab and was not able to go out of the house but towards Wednesday I started to feel better and worked on some College stuff and scholarships. ThursdayToday I am slowly recovering so I needed to get out of the house and wasn't scheduled to go the lab I went to mission bay and beach to check out how well it would be to go spearfishing when I am recovered I found out from some lifeguards that popular spots are on the shores in the inside of the jetty they said theres a lot of lobster and kelp bass. So I think that I found the spot I will be doing my first spearfishing dive. Also I went in the water for a while then headed home. FridayToday I finally got to go to the lab and help out Pike. It was a very chill day same old same old I just was watching his data and running his research while he did other stuff. So what I do is monitor the algae that we put in a tube and change the shade of light we shine on it to see how much productivity the algae produces and its measured by dissolved oxygen. I also talked to him a lot about his college experience and tips and things I should do as a freshmen.
MondayMonday was my strength and conditioning day for my week ahead. For the next couple of weeks I wanted to focus my intersession on my passions and dreams. For this week I was planning on diving and spearfishing most of the days but I haven swam in a while so for the first half of the day I was working on scholarships for college once I was done I went to the gym and worked out for two hours and once I finished that swam in the lap pool for an hour and a half. TuesdayI was looking on my Instagram and saw a post from scrips institution of oceanography about a red sea tide so i changed my plans and went to La Jolla. Its waves that are illuminated brighter blue by the luminescent plankton that are being washed away with the waves so I spent the day at La jolla tide pooling with some friends until 10 until the waves started to glow I watched it from UCSD's research pier. WednesdayToday I worked on scholarships and with Ucsds Financial aid office and once I was done with that I made my way down to la jolla so I could get my speargun checked and repaired for next weeks dives I met a really cool spearfisher who taught me a lot about the ocean and spearfishing if I didn't meet him and gained his knowledge I probably would have died when I went so In glad I went. Thursday and FridayFor both days I did very similar activity I packed my wet suit, mask, fins ,and towels and left my house very early to make way to La jolla . Both day the water was horrible to dive in and look around so we swam for about twenty minuets then decided that we wanted to go tide pooling so I walked a mile down the cove side to a different spot were we started to see fins pop out of the water so we jumped in and started swimming with lepord sharks and by swimming I mean standing and walking around them while they swim around us. Next week I will fully jump in with them but being able to see wild sharks so close was an amazing experience. Next week I will be working at my Internship for a couple of day then diving, spearfishing, and doing more tide pooling to explore more of the waters.
